Maurice "John" Plasse, III, fourth generation Amador County resident, resides on the Plasse Family Ranch, homesteaded in 1853 by his great- great-grandfather. Born on August 26, 1958, John grew up working on a family-run cattle ranch, as well as working in the reopening and rebuilding of Plasse's Resort, a seasonal summer campground at Silver Lake. Following graduation from Jackson High (now Argonaut High) in 1976, John went on to attend college in Sacramento, during which time he obtained his Associate of Arts Business Degree prior to marrying his wife, Jeannie, in July of 1979. In 1980, John established J&J Goldsmiths, Inc., which became Plasse Jewelers, a custom design jewelry store in the Sacramento area comprised of a first-class retail showroom and full-service manufacturing and repair facility. During that time, John attained recognition as one of only five American Gem Society Accredited Gemological Laboratory stores in the entire Sacramento region. John retired from Plasse Jewelers in 2003, and is very active in several community organizations.
John and Jeannie have two children, Maurice "Johnny" Plasse, IV, and Jenae Loree Plasse, both graduates of Argonaut High.
Supervisor Plasse was elected to the following terms on the Board of Supervisors: 2009-2012.
