  • Taxes are payable at the Office of the Amador County Tax Collector, 810 Court Street, Jackson, CA 95642-2132, between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday, holidays excepted.  If the delinquent date shown on the tax bill falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the time of delinquency is 5 pm on the next business day. Payments made by mail must be postmarked on or before the delinquent date to avoid statutory penalties.

  • Tax bills are mailed to taxpayers at the addresses provided on the Tax Roll. Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve the taxpayer of the liability to pay the tax, nor does it provide a basis for excusing penalties.

  • Taxes are levied on both real and personal property as it exists at 12:01 am on the first day of January each year.

  • If a receipted bill is required upon payment, return your entire tax bill with a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

 

  • ELECTRONIC CHECK PROCESSING:  When you provide a check as payment, you authorize the County of Amador to either use information from your check to make a one-time electronic transfer from your bank account or to process the payment as a check transaction.  If we use information from your check to make an electronic transfer, funds may be withdrawn from your account as soon as the same day we receive your payment, and you will not receive your check back from your financial institution.  The transaction will appear on your bank statement.

  • For tax bills with two installments, taxpayers have the option of paying both installments when the first is due. A second installment payment cannot be accepted unless the first installment is paid.

  • Make remittance payable to the Amador County Tax Collector. Do not mail cash. Negotiable paper returned unpaid to the Tax Collector for any reason, will result in the cancelation of the payment, the voiding of any receipt issued, and the imposition of a returned check charge.

  • If you disagree with the assessed value as shown on the tax bill, you have the right to an informal assessment review by contacting the Assessor’s Office. If you are unable to agree on proper assessed value after this informal review, you have the right to file an Application for Reduction in Assessment for the following year with the County Board of Equalization, during the period from July 2 to November 30, inclusive.
