Adoption Fee: $85.00**
All dogs/puppies are spayed/neutered, given age appropriate vaccinations and are micro chipped prior to leaving the shelter.
Amador County residents must also purchase a dog license for an additional fee at the time of adoption.
If the dog is still a puppy, less than 4 months, the license will be active when the puppy receives its rabies vaccination.
Heartworm testing is done on dogs that are 6 months of age and older.
An initial assessment of the dog's behavior is performed at the shelter prior to adoption. Although we do our best to provide adopters with information on the dog's behavior, this assessment in no way guarantees the behavior of the dog in a different setting after the adoption.
Adoption Fee: $50.00 for one cat or $85.00 for two cats, If both cats are adopted at the same time.
All Cats are spayed/neutered, given age appropriate vaccinations and are micro chipped prior to leaving the shelter.
*All other animals are adopted at half of the market value for the animal.
We will check to ensure all other dogs in the household hold a current dog license prior to the adoption of your new Animal. If one or more of your dogs is not current on a dog license, you will need to purchase a dog license for them prior to the adoption of your new animal.
Amador County Animal Control offers a senior for seniors adoption program. If the adopter is 65 years of age or older and the animal is 5 years or older, a one time half price adoption can be done. Dog adoptions are $42.00 and cat adoptions are $20.00 with this program. Residents of Amador County must also purchase a dog license at the time of adoption.
**All dogs and cats that have been made available at the shelter for more than 15 days will now qualify for a 1/2 price adoption fee. The fee for dogs is $42.00 and the fee for cats is $20.00. Under this program we are hoping to increase adoptions of long term residents.
